A little less detail, a little more air.
Exploring softer edges, broken colour, and a looser digital watercolour approach.

A new direction in my digital watercolour practice.
Keeping the drawing structured, while letting the colour loosen, break apart, and move beyond its usual boundaries.
Less detail, more atmosphere.
Still exploring.

I like the sense of movement in this one —
the raised arm, the hat, the loose strands of red hair, and that slightly windswept feeling.

Looking back at the series, I still enjoy how each portrait captured a different side of Anne.

Another piece from Anne with an E illustration series.
This one feels a little more complete to me —
Anne, her red hair, the quiet blue coat, a little fox, and all the greens surrounding her.

Looking back, I still like how all the small details came together in this piece.

Another piece from my Anne with an E illustration series.
This one feels a little quieter —
just Anne, a simple meal, and one of those small everyday moments that somehow stay in your memory.
I’ve always enjoyed drawing scenes like this, where the character feels like they’re living beyond the portrait itself.

Another piece from my older Anne with an E illustration series.

This one was more about expression than detail —
the slightly teary eyes, flushed cheeks, and that quiet, vulnerable moment.

Looking back, I think I was always most interested in drawing the feeling behind a face.
